Carmen Garber, AMFT
Life can sometimes be unsettling and overwhelming; we may need extra support, a different perspective, or a trusted companion on the journey. As a therapist, I consider it an honor to walk alongside individuals and families in their pursuit of emotional and relational health. I am committed to providing therapy in a context of safety and trust, as well as professional excellence.
About me
In my free time I enjoy reading, hiking, and spending time with my husband and three children.
My Approach
My approach is strengths-based and person-centered, utilizing therapy methodologies such as solution-focused, contextual, cognitive-behavioral, experiential, and play therapy techniques. I enjoy working with a variety of clients: children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families.
My Background
I come to New Journey from a background in education as well as therapeutic foster parenting. I hold a bachelor’s degree from Eastern Mennonite University in Liberal Arts with Licensure in Elementary and Special Education. I also earned a MAMFT from Kairos University and I have my associate license. I hold specialized certifications in Gottman Level 1, Prepare and Enrich, as well as the Myers Briggs Inventory. I have also been trained in Filial Play Therapy and am looking forward to being trained soon in Theraplay to help deepen connections between caregivers and children!
